Adult FriendFinder is one of the oldest and best-known adult dating and social sites. Signing up is free, but most people who want to use it properly end up paying for a Gold membership. This review focuses on what matters before you pay: what Gold costs, how it renews, and one checkout detail that can almost double your bill if you do not notice it.
This site is intended for adults aged 18 and over. This review contains no explicit content.

Prices were checked on the Adult FriendFinder Gold upgrade page in October 2026. We checked from South Africa, so prices were shown in rand (ZAR), plus VAT. If you are elsewhere you will see prices in your local currency, but the plan structure is the same. Always confirm the final total at checkout.
What Is Adult FriendFinder?
Adult FriendFinder is a large adult dating and social network where members create profiles, search for other members, chat and join groups and blogs. Standard membership is free, but it is limited. Gold is the paid upgrade that unlocks the features most people join for, including fuller messaging.
The site also promotes live cam models alongside member profiles (it advertised hundreds of “Live Pro Models” when we checked). These are paid performers, not regular members, so it helps to know which is which before you spend money.
Gold Membership Pricing Explained
1 month: R298.53
Billed monthly and renews every month until you cancel. This is the most flexible option and the best way to test whether the site works in your area.
3 months: R646.12 (about R215 a month)
Billed every three months, and advertised as 28% off the monthly price. This was the plan selected by default when we checked.
12 months: R1,985.76 (about R165 a month)
Billed once a year and labelled “Best Value”. It is the cheapest per month, but it is a big upfront payment for a dating site you have not tried yet. Only choose it if you already know the site works for you. See monthly vs annual subscriptions for how to decide.
Watch Out: The Pre-Ticked Add-On
This is the most important thing in this review. Below the Gold plans, the checkout page shows an extra option called “Interact With Standard Members”, which lets free members view your profile, contact you and reply to your messages.
When we checked, this add-on was already ticked, and it costs R596.23 billed every quarter (R198.74 a month), plus VAT, renewing quarterly. With the default 3-month Gold plan, that takes your quarterly bill from R646.12 to R1,242.35, nearly double, before VAT.
The add-on may be useful to some people, but you should choose it on purpose. If you do not want it, untick the box before you enter your card details. Pre-ticked extras like this are one of the most common billing traps on adult sites; we explain the others in hidden rebilling traps on adult sites.
Payment and Privacy
The Gold checkout we saw accepted credit and debit cards only, including Visa, Mastercard, Maestro, Discover, Diners Club and JCB. There was also a link for people experiencing economic hardship. If privacy matters to you, consider paying with a virtual card you can pause or delete. Our guides on how to pay for adult sites discreetly and what shows on your bank statement explain your options.

- Turn off auto-renewal or cancel from your account’s billing settings, and make sure any add-on is cancelled too.
- Keep the cancellation confirmation and check your next statement.

- Accepts a wide range of cards
Cons
- A pricey add-on was pre-ticked at checkout and nearly doubles the bill

- Plans renew automatically, and add-ons renew separately
Who Is Adult FriendFinder Best For?
Adult FriendFinder suits adults who want a large, open-minded dating and social community and are willing to pay for Gold to use it properly. Start with one month, check the activity in your area, and only move to a longer plan once you know it works for you.
The Bottom Line
Adult FriendFinder is one of the biggest names in adult dating, and Gold is reasonably priced on longer plans. But the checkout needs care: an add-on was pre-ticked when we checked and almost doubles the cost. Untick anything you did not choose, start with one month, and save your billing emails.
